50 Fake Journalists Deported From Commonwealth Games – Official

More than 50 have been deported from Australia where they tried to gain entry in the pretence of being sports journalists that were headed to cover the Commonwealth Games.

The deportees, who are mostly Ghanaians, are reported to have been caught out after they were unable to answer basic questions about sports.

They are said to have been in possession of genuine travel documents but raised eyebrows when they were unable to answer the questions that Australian authorities say they should have been familiar with.

Ghana’s assistant Sports Minister Pious Enam Hadidze said an investigation had already been launched into the matter.
He, however, denied the ministry had anything to do with helping the deportees obtain visas.

The 21st Commonwealth Games were officially opened in a spectacular opening ceremony on the Gold Coast.
More than 4,500 athletes from 71 nations and territories will be competing for 275 gold medals over the 11 days of competition.
